Signs and Symptoms of Nervous System Dysregulation

Every one of your sensations, behaviors, habits, moods, everything you do (or don’t do) is determined by your nervous system. Many patterns that are refered to as “disorders” are actually our nervous systems working extemely well at trying to keep us alive. Working with neurosomatics teaches us how to change outputs, to regulate our nervous systems, rehabilitate old patterns, and helps our bodies move out of a state of survival and into a state of performance (where we can do what we want).

Signs and Symptoms of Nervous System Dysregulaton (i.e. Outputs):

Physical symptoms
Headaches and Migraines
Muscle Tension and Nerve Pain
Digestive Issues
Chronic Pain
Weakened immune system
Insomnia
Persistent discomfort without clear medical explanations
Heightened sensitivity to stimuli (light, sound, temperature, etc.)

Emotional symptoms
Mood swings
Anxiety
Depression
Irritability
Outbursts
Shutting down
Difficulty shifting out of negative emotional states

Cognitive symptoms
Poor memory
Difficulty concentrating or focusing
Persistent worry or fearfulness
Chronic stress
Compulsions
Heightened sensitivity to stimuli (light, sound, temperature, etc.)
Feeling quick to overwhelm

Outputs are not disease states. You are not broken. Relief is achievable.

Neurosomatic Intelligence is the ability to recognize how sensory and cognitive inputs are affecting the nervous system and to be able to intentionally change inputs to produce positive adaptation in the nervous system that allows for increased regulation, performance, behavior change and trauma repatterning.

Nervous system outputs. This graphic shows the progression from survival outputs to performance outputs. When we learn to regulate the nervous system we can voluntarily move away from survival outputs and into performance outputs.
